Postdoc job opportunity in our group

We invite applications for post-doctoral position, financed from the Opus grant of prof. Agnieszka Janiuk.

We are looking for a candidate with a PhD and experience in theoretical and computational astrophysics. The topic of research involves study of stellar evolution and collapse in the context of long gamma ray bursts. We are also studying r-process nucleosynthesis in the outflows from accretion disks in GRB engines. The position will be available for initially two years, with a possible extension for the third year, subject to satisfactory performance.

The application deadline is set on 15 June.

Paper on collapsing stars accepted to ApJ

The article “Accretion induced black hole spin up revised by numerical GR MHD simulations”, by Dominika Krol and Agnieszka Janiuk, has been accepted for publication in the Astrophysical Journal. The paper presents constraints on the changing black hole mass and spin during accretion which enforces dynamical evolution of the Kerr space-time metric. Preprint may be found here under the link.
